Inspired by the book Wild, written by Cheryl Strayed describing her life-changing experience hiking the Pacific Crest Trail alone, this project recreated her emotions she felt during the Prologue of her published novel. The design of this book focuses on her journalistic writing style, carefree spirit, and the extreme emotional baggage she felt while pursuing this feat alone. Using negative and positive space, die-cuts, and illustrative elements, this bold and edgy design emulates the barriers she had to overcome to merely keep walking.
